BEN
COLLIER KEYBOARDS & VOCALS Ben Collier, is an outstanding
musician/entertainer with a history of professionalism, His career began
in the late 50’s Working with the
late Larry Williams, He also worked with the top R & B recording
artist of the late 50’s & early 60’s, such artist as: Joe Tex, Sam
Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Huey Smith Clowns,
Just to name a few. During the mid 60’s
while serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Ben was able to perform in his
spare time, where he excelled on the B-3 Hammond Organ, making him one of
the premiere Jazz organist of our time, playing rooms that featured, the
top jazz keyboard players, such as: Jimmy Smith, Ramsey Lewis, Gene
Harris, Amad Jamal, Jimmy McGriff, Don Patterson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and
many more. During the early 70’s
Ben wrote and recorded Walk Proud which was released on the Atlantic
Records Label, as a 45, the selection on the “B” side “ Salute to Black
Women” was the theme song for the first Miss Black North Carolina beauty
pageant. During the mid 70’s
thru the mid 80’s, Ben toured the Midwestern States, working with a Trio,
Duo, and as a One man Show traveling between West Virginia & Colorado.
During the late
80’s Ben Co-Managed, Managed, & Performed at the Nirvana Supper Club
in Greensboro, N.C. In the Early
90’s He arrived in
South Florida to work the Cruise Ship & lounge circuit.
Ben's extensive travel experience has found him working in forty of the fifty United States.
